Calypso Exterior Cleaning is a locally owned family business servicing the New Orleans metropolitan and Northshore areas. Calypso is dedicated to providing homeowners and commercial businesses with a variety of exterior cleaning options designed to clean and sanitize your investment. Our regular, periodic cleaning of your home, roof, decks and fences, concrete, stucco, or building will keep your property looking fresh and beautiful. We use a low pressure system that cleans without damage to surfaces that can result in high pressure washing.

In our coastal part of the state, humidity and unpredictable weather can cause the accumulation of dirt, algae, moss, lichen and other organics that lead to your home or business looking dull over time.

What is the black stuff on my roof?

For the most part, it is Gloeocapsa Magma (Blue-Green algae). It is a natural player in our humid coastal environment. Our region is ideally conducive for algea growth on our homes; we see it mostly on the roof. The Algae's natural color will darken as successive layers accumulate on the roof. Dead algae on the top surface appear black or brown and form a dark protective sheath that helps block UV sun rays from harming the live algae underneath.,
Is your cleaning system safe for my roof?

Yes. The American Roofing Manufacturer's Association (ARMA) has recommended this process to clean and sanitize asphalt shingles. This is the cleaning process ARMA recommends for the shingles they themselves are warranting for 20 to 30 years. ARMA recommends NEVER using a pressure washer on asphalt shingles that they warranty.
Will you use high pressure to clean our roof?

No! The use of a pressure washer, even a small one with a lower water PSI can force the granules that make up the surface of the shingle to be dislodged. This will accelerate the deterioration and life of your roof. We use a low-pressure system in combination with our softwash solution to eliminate & remove all the dirt and organics (algae, moss, lichen, etc.) from your roof.
Are you insured?

Yes, we are insured with both general liability and workers compensation. Documentation is provided with the contract.
